App does not connect to my TTGO

I love your app but have tremendous problems connecting the app to my TTGO. Once the connection is established it works fine.
Tests I made:
- I use version 2.3 on the smartphone as well as on the TTGO
- My newer Smartphone is a OnePlus T7 and my old one is a P9000
- I rebooted the TTGO as well as killed the app several times in different orders. Also "forgot" pairing. Rebooted the Android many times.
- My newer Android 11 phone hardly connects. My old Android 6 phone most of the time connects. Sometimes a reboot of the TTGO is needed.
- The TTGO always can be paired on both phones
- The TTGO always can be connected to the Serial BLE console on the new phone. So it seems that the BLE connection works also on the new phone and the problem is somewhere between the app and the BLE stack.
- It would be good to have some sort of BLE connection status messages to understand the problem.
